BAAN SAENG TAWAN Is part of Project
Empowering and Care, run by Thai Lanna church from the beginning of 2005. It
seeks to provide women who are involved in prostitution with the vocational and
psycho-social foundation necessary to enable them to choose a new way of
life. Our vision is to invite people into life changing relationships in
the midst of daily life and work where they can experience dignity, healing,
and hope. We also tried to offer an opportunity to their children by opening a
child-care facility where children can be saved and healthy.
At the moment, several handicraft courses are opened on a rotary basis
including jewellery-making, basic sewing, fabric-painting, crochet, and
card-making. In addition, Thai and English courses are available for both
target group and women at risk in the area. Life-skill lessons such as anger
management, marital life, problem-solving skills, child-rearing skill and
communication skills are inserted in every class. There are also counseling and
health education service from times to times according to the need of our
contacts.
Moreover, Baan Saeng Tawan seeks to prevent young people from wrong
attitudes regarding relationships, sex, and HIV. We started to enter college to
arrange activities covering the issues.
